The Governor of Maine and I have a very similar family history. He was on his own when he was a young boy and I was in a dog shelter at a young age. Someone very kind took him in, gave him shelter and love; and guess what, that’s just what Governor LePage did for me. They are the best family in the world.
Want to know something funny? Sometimes I think the Governor forgets my name. He usually calls me Buddy when he talks to me. (Just between you and me, I like it when he calls me Buddy.)
I have the best gig in the state. Don’t get me wrong, being the First Dog of Maine can be exhausting. I have lots of responsibilities around the Blaine House. Supervising the hallways and making sure I greet every visitor with a very thorough look over, and a hardy bark; it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
I’ll keep you posted on what goes on inside the Blaine House – behind the scenes, if you know what I mean. You’ll meet the staff here and some of the guests, including some of the school kids who visit the Blaine House all through the year. They REALLY love me!!
Fabulous idea. Can’t wait to hear more from Baxter.
i love this dog can i see the dog some time ?
or no i can’t
Hi Whitney! I’m in the house most afternoons the Blaine House is open for tours. Many people contact the Maine State Museum for times and dates available for tours, but if there aren’t any tours and it’s a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon from 2:00-4:00, come on over. If you are here with a school tour, just ask for me and someone will bring me downstairs. I’m always ready to meet my fans!!!! Hope we see you at the Blaine House sometime.
loved the dog hes so cute i just cant find him on facebook
You can find me on FaceBook by going to Baxter LePage. There are two FaceBook sites and only one works, so be sure you have the correct site before leaving your message for me. I’ll be looking for it! Baxter
Hi Baxter,
I have a little boy Jack Russell, you remind me of him, a lot! His name is Ben, he’s about 7 months old!
Maybe some day we’ll see you outside running around?
I love to play in my yard, although I am not let out as often as I would like because I have a bad habit of digging under the fences and escaping to the other side. For some reason the Blaine House staff doesn’t find any humor in my escape tricks!!
hey baxter i got to meet you today you are so fun to be around. i hope to see you again.
your friend jazmine!!
It was great to meet you two Jazmine – come visit again!
